Stamtec, Inc., a manufacturer of metal stamping and forming presses, is seeking a Project Manager/Engineer in the Sales/Projects Department. This is not a remote position. Project Manager must work from Stamtec in Manchester, TN, which is located about one hour from Nashville, ½ hour from Murfreesboro, and one hour from Chattanooga. Stamtec offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience and excellent benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401k profit sharing plan.

Position description:

Being a project manager for Stamtec means leading the charge and making sound decisions that can affect the entire company. In this position, you will enjoy the flexibility and freedom to manage projects in your own style and at your own pace. There are certain project milestones that must be achieved at all costs, but the path taken to achieve those milestones is mostly up to the Project Manager. In addition to this freedom, you will have a great deal of decision making power within the company. Because these projects oftentimes approach and exceed $1M in value, the Project Manager’s input is highly valued since they will have an intimate relationship with the project which includes: the customer, our manufacturing team, sub-suppliers, logistics & rigging teams, contractors, our Service team, and others. In short, the Project Manager is expected to take responsibility for everything involved in a project and ensure obstructions are removed that could hinder project success. Even though the Project Manager is expected to handle, coordinate, and manage all the in’s and out’s of a project, you will have the full support of the entire Stamtec team if or when things become critical, overwhelming, or risky. These projects can range in duration from a few weeks up to two years. Having this variety keeps the job interesting as you develop relationships with all involved parties, travel around the country/world, and shape the project in a way that best suites your style.

A strong candidate for this position will display:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical concepts and their applications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, machinery, and equipment.
  • Proactive mindset with ability to foresee potential risks and take preventive action to mitigate or avoid them.
  • Confidence and determination to impose success in reaching critical project milestones while enhancing customer experience and maintaining project budget.
  • High level of motivation & creativity to actualize solutions in fast-paced & dynamic situations.
  • Ability to maintain and grow relationships with customer’s for duration of project, while maintaining project timing and budget.
  • Strong ability to lead meetings with multiple people from various departments and organizations- e.g.- Stamtec, customers, sub-suppliers, etc.
  • Desire to take complete ownership of projects, with consistent follow up and proactive management of projects from conception through installation
  • Excellent project documentation including progress tracking, financial review, scope of work definition, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project
  • Well-developed writing skills
  • Competence in reading, understanding, and working with engineering department on AutoCAD drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Technical knowledge of mechanical metal-stamping presses or related industries, especially automotive and appliance, is a plus.
  • An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or Certification as a Professional Project Manager is strongly preferred.
